Trésor insaisissable – Part 1

We did always talk about me writing.
We thought it would be with happy ink.
But here, holding back tears, I’m fighting,
And all I can do is just think.

I remember when I first noticed you.
Your flowing hair, your smile too.
That feeling, within me, was new,
To me; you had become like dew.

The way you walked, every step you took.
The way you talked… was this a fluke?
The warmth I saw in your smile,
Alas, In you, I found no guile.

I had to know – what was different about you?
Why was there perfection in every breath you drew?

I decided I’d wait for chance to bring us closer,
I’d brave my lovelorn, I’d be a soldier.
The months would pass; “Where are you, fate?”
“Where’s the circumstance that would cause us to date?”

Now impatient, I decided I’d make my move.
At this point, there was nothing left to lose.
I was due to leave. Soon I’d be gone.
Could your heart still, by me, be won?
I had to know. Was there something?
If I didn’t act now, it’d all be for nothing.

Surprisingly, you welcomed my attention,
You leaned in, but made no decision.
I’d take it. I would give you time.
I’d keep chasing, I’d find you online.

Hope, however, can be dangerous.
My fantasies would become like dross.
You would ask to be liberated of me.
You would tell me we may never be.

An elusive treasure. Unique. One of a kind.
Like a ruby I might never find.
