Let’s read Romans 3! The book of Romans; chapter 3 has 31 verses. Within these 31 verses we are taken in a deep dive into the revelation of God’s perfect righteousness, the truth about our unrighteousness, then eventually, how we can attain unto the righteousness that God desires, amen.
You may read the entire chapter 3 on your own, first, then you may return to read through my summary which follows after this paragraph. As always, feel free to add your input based on your own revelations in the comments. I would love to read them as well!
God is sovereign. We must come to understand this. God is just, we must also come to understand and appreciate this. Man was created to be in the presence of God, yet God was God and man was flesh. Man, by having no understanding of good and evil, was just before God, amen. This was God’s intention. Man, being led astray by satan, that old serpent, fell. He ate of the fruit of knowledge, as opposed to the fruit of life which God intended for him. As such, his eyes were opened to understand good and evil, and therefore there was no excuse. Man was barred from God’s holy presence because God cannot indulge sin. The commandments of God declare the person, the righteousness of God, and the requirements in its law could never be attainable by man. Yet, God let it be declared before men. This was so that man could understand his weaknesses and seek out salvation. Only one man. One God man, our Lord and savior Jesus Christ could fulfill the requirements of the law. In Him was no sin inputted. He was and is beloved to God. Christ has come on account of our sin to be the place of propitiation. The fulfillment of the lid of the ark on which the blood was sprinkled in the Old Testament. He came to cover our faults, amen. In our weaknesses, His strength is made perfect. Now this same Christ has established a new covenant. A covenant where man is able to attain to righteousness, not by the word of the law, but by the faith of the person of Jesus Christ and in this same person. Hallelujah.
The Lord has not created us to try to be good. The Lord has not created us to try to obey the law. The intention from the beginning has always been to be in God’s presence and to have the life of God. This intention is hereby still fulfilled. We are here to mingle with God. To be vessels unto honor. To open up to Christ in faith and in gradual growth from being a baby to being mature. We are here to have Christ as our content so that we can express Him. Unfortunately, some Christians can’t see this. They believe that by their efforts they can attain to the righteous requirement of God. They forget that it is not of him who willeth or runneth. They forget that it is of God that showeth mercy. O Lord! There is no one good! Not even one! No one can attain to this level of righteousness! Only God. We must stop trying and surrender ourselves to God. We just open our hearts and take in the only one that is good. We must take in Christ so we may express His riches. Amen.
God in His infinite mercies has made it possible for us by His GRACE (unmerrited favour) to attain righteousness, acquitted and judged acceptable by believing with personal trust and confident reliance on Jesus Christ the Messiah. God is righteous and He justifies and accepts as righteous him who has true faith in Jesus. Obeying the law does not make us righteous, it has nothing to do with justification. Thank God who has counted us worthy to be His children.
So by saying that we were not created to try to be ‘good’, does that mean we should embrace evil? Does that mean we should embrace depravity? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may abound? God forbid! The depth of our relationship with God is exposed by the fruits that we exhibit. By their fruits you shall know them. The fruits of the Holy Spirit unconsciously start being exhibited by those who have both opened up their vessels to Christ and have continued, day by day, to take Him in as their content. We express what we contain. We therefore must contain Christ, in-order to express Him. Amen!
